ABC Care Center – Parr’s Ridge & Mt. Airy Elementary School
Serving Pre-K through 5th grade students from both Parr’s Ridge Elementary and Mount Airy Elementary, our center provides a warm, creative, and supportive environment for every child. Students from Mount Airy Elementary take the bus to and from Parr’s each morning and afternoon, so both school communities come together in one welcoming space.
Each day, our teachers lead hands-on art and STEM activities that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. Students love expressing themselves through daily crafts and experimenting with exciting STEM projects that make learning fun.
To support emotional growth and well-being, our center includes six designated “soft spot” areas for emotion regulation—cozy spaces where children can take a break, reset, and recharge when needed.
At Parr’s Ridge, we take pride in creating an environment where students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally—all while having fun and feeling at home.

Ms. Kara has been working with children and youth since 2017. She received her bachelor’s in Youth Studies in 2021. Ms. Kara started working for ABC Care in October of 2023 and has loved working in school age childcare. She was originally the Assistant Director of Parr’s Ridge & Mount Airy ABC Care and is now the Director. Ms. Kara lives in Urbana with her Husband and two cats. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, videogames, reading, camping, and spending time with her family.
Since joining the ABC Care team in February 2020 as an Assistant, Izzy has risen to the role of Assistant Director for the Parrs Ridge and Mount Airy ABC centers. Izzy has a background in early childhood education and early childhood special education, having completed college coursework in these areas. She has a passion for working in the childcare field which stems from a deep-rooted love for building meaningful relationships with children and seeing them flourish as they learn and grow. Outside of work, Izzy lives in Mount Airy with her husband, their dog, and two birds. In her free time, she enjoys exercising, baking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
DIRECTIONS
- From Westminster take Rt 27 into Taylorsville, MD, Cross over Route 26 and continue on Route 27 for 8 Miles and make a Right onto Watersville Road, Parr’s Ridge will be your first left. Use the side cafeteria entrance to the left of main covered walkway/entrance, come to Door #4. Please use the doorbell to the right of the door and we will open the door for you. **The Bus # for Mt. Airy coming and going from Parr’s is #391 for the AM and #24 for PM.
