ABC Care Center – Mechanicsville Elementary School
The first ABC Care program site to open, Mechanicsville Center is a MD EXCELS Level 3 and three-time nationally accredited program focusing on small group interactions with both teacher-led and self-selected activities. Creative arts, STEM and drama keep children involved before and after school. Students enjoy supervised free play time in the large school gymnasium, two large outdoor playgrounds and blacktop area and have the option to choose quiet areas to complete their homework before heading home.
Heather graduated from University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Early childhood Education. She has been working in the childcare industry for 15 years. Starting as an infant teacher she worked her way to become a school aged teacher & now a director with ABC Care. In her free time she enjoys reading, photography and completing puzzles. Heather is looking forward to a great school year!
Jasmine Wood joined the ABC Care team in 2019 as an Assistant. She currently attend UMBC and is majoring in Social Work and Sociology. Jasmine has worked with children for 6 years. In her free time, she enjoys playing the guitar, writing songs, sports, and spending time with family. Jasmine is extremely passionate about working with children and watching them grow. She is very excited to be a part of the director team!
ABC Care school-based and summer camp programs hire supervisors and staff members who demonstrate necessary experience and skills for working successfully with children, including enthusiasm, compassion, patience, and respect.
